Big Basin Prairie Reserve Kansas

Big Basin Prairie Preserve Wildlife Area

Big Basin Prairie Preserve Wildlife Area. The Big Basin Prairie Preserve is 1,818 acres of native mixed grass prairie managed by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. This area is in the Red Hills region of Kansas. Dick Gehring runs a herd of bison on Big Basin as part of the native species grazing program. What a great example of private ranchers working with State Parks to maintain our public lands.
